What I Wore: Friday, Aug 17

Lately I've been trying to "grow up" my style, my wardrobe especially. I've got some really old gems in my closet, most of which I forget I have on a regular basis. So, this morning when I woke up I wanted to wear something I haven't worn in a long time. Partly because I now, for the first time in my life, have no washer and dryer where I reside *shudder*, and mostly because I just did laundry yesterday and just got finished hanging everything up.

I pulled out of the very far reaches of my closet my yellow and grey striped skirt. I've had this skirt for 2+ years and have only worn it once. I also got {this} skirt, same thing in dark colors! They were both on clearance out at Old Navy for 6 bucks each, a steal.

And then if that wasn't enough, I saw my "bow belt" as I call it. I've had it for about 5 years, have never ever worn it. It came with a button up shirt and was not flattering on where it sat on me. Then I gained a shit ton of weight and couldn't fit into it.

I will never claim to be great at dressing myself. I love how this turned out though, and apparently so did about 7 customers and a co-worker. One lady was even bold enough to reach over the counter and feel the fabric.

Dream Internship

I think Facebook is taunting me.

I've been craving an internship at an AMAZING company, preferably outside of Oklahoma (even though it is getting cooler*

Looking at my feed I came across the most wonderful post about some internships opening up in Portland (enter the Portlandia opening sequence here).

Obviously I can't go, because it's a dream internship haha. I start school before the internship ends, I have plans to go to the beach at the end of July with my best cousin ever! And I was hoping to take a few summer classes (NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY!!!!)

A girl can dream though, and I've got my sights set on New York next summer.
Ready, Aim, Fire.

*My boyfriend would freak out for me saying this because he's a New York man at heart, but it's true.

Kate Spade

For my advertising class last semester I did a brand profile over Kate Spade. I originally started out the project liking her. I now LOVE her brand. I know I've talked about loving her before (as seen here), but it is a fact.

This project below was the book I made for the project. It's probably one of my favorite things I've ever worked on/produced. I ended up using a lot of photography to show her style, advertising, and campaigns.

Given that I only used the computer I think it turned out really, super well! Especially since the computer hasn't seemed to be as successful as I wanted it to be in the past on basically anything. Somehow I seem to do better with photography and illustration than just making things on the computer.

I Will Never Love You More...

I will never love you more... than peanut butter.

this is the story of a charming girl
she laughs out loud, sings off key and believes in taking chances
she is quick and curious and playful and strong
she lets her imagination run away with her
she has never been one to stick to convention
she is fond of daydreams that take her places
she can order a cocktail in six different languages
she feels that understated is overrated

This video made me fall in love with Kate Spade.

Her style, her bold colors, the charm of her advertisements, her style, basically, just her brand in general.
Her ads make life seem so simple and carefree, and just overall dreamy.

What are your favorite advertisements out there these days?

The fall is coming, the fall is coming!

It seems like it's been burning up here forever.... Finally Saturday will mark the arrival of October, the month which everything will finally *hopefully* cool down. I miss my fall jacket and scarves. I will say I'm in dire need of a clothes overhaul (in general, but it's more dire for my fall garb). I really wish I had a ton of money to shop... Plus I need new toms.

My top 4 items that I want, but in no way can afford:

What are you guys excited most about for fall?

Project Runway

So I haven't been watching Project Runway the last few seasons because I've been so busy, but I just read a little bit from this blog and I'm in love with Anya Ayoung Chee. I would never be able to wear any of them, but they're beautiful!
